Marletto, regional climate petition

Following the petition on the regional climate issue I have written and subscribed by the link:

http://www.petitiononline.com / mrlvtr58 /

the President of the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna, Monica Donini

Dear President,

2007 was also a hot year for the planet (and for the Emilia-Romagna), the the second warmest on record, just behind 2005. The greenhouse gas emissions of human origin that are altering the balance and enhance climate continues unabated. The climate issue has become unavoidable and even the region in our humble opinion of environmentalists, academics and ordinary citizens should engage much more on this front. Emilia-Romagna, in fact, emits more greenhouse gases than the national average (we are 11 tons / year of CO2 equivalent per capita against the average of 10) and these emissions continue to grow with dynamics that seem out of control (especially in the area transport).
The issue of climate policy has been addressed in international and European level: as you well know is that the European commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% below 1990 levels by 2020 and the prospect of at least 50 point % by 2050.

To do so would require an effort that some scholars compare to that incurred in western countries before and during World War II: the shift of production and lifestyles, with a view to preserving their civilization.

To achieve these goals is essential to a clear political will. She presides over the House that there is has never spoken clearly with resolutions or other acts in the direction predicted that direct the implementation activities of the Executive.

We therefore urge the convening of a thematic session of the Legislative Assembly devoted to climate issues and the political climate in our region and we are willing to bring any supporting data and the ideas were to serve in this area. Thanks Sincerely

- Vittorio
